In 2003, Jane Wright took a leap of faith opening Jane's on the Common in the North End of Halifax.
Jane expanded her passion to the catering domain.
With the launch of Jane's Next Door (JND) Catering and Events, Jane and the team took everything they learned and packaged it.
However, Jane’s Next Door remained limited to the North-end Halifax area.
Jane’s was ready to expand its wings and caught the attention of Chef Tahir when he was looking to quench his thirst to expand fine dining experience to everyone. In 2021, Chef took up the challenge of leading Jane’s Next Door by adding professional muscle to the home-cooked delicacies.

Meet Our Chefs
About Chef Tahir, AHCIMA:
Chef Tahir is a culinary leader with over four decades of hardcore experience in Food industry startup, design, consultancy, operations, and project management.
Chef Tahir started his career in F&B operations and kept on enriching his portfolio with trainings and achievements and became a continental culinary expert. His leadership includes several F&B (Food and Beverage) success stories in Southeast Asia, Arabian Guld, Middle East, Africa, and North America.
He is an active member of Association Mondial de Gastronomie le Chaine de Rotisseurs as a Chef Maître Grillardin, HCIMA: Hotel Catering and International Management Association, UK, Les Toques Blancs: International Chefs Club, Paris, France. He also carries many awards and accreditations to position himself as an authority in Food Business and Project Management. Chef Tahir has been named Nova Scotia Chef of the year in 2006 and Chef of the year for Atlantic Provinces in 2007. ln 2013 awarded Culinarian of the year by NSACC (Nova Scotia Association of Cook & Chefs).
About David Cosens, Pastry Chef:
David Cosens a European trained Pastry Chef with 37 years experience, born and raised in Nova Scotia and has worked in everything from small Bakeries to world renowned Hotels. He brings to Jane's and to you, a fusion of European and Maritime Pastries to delight your palate.
About Klaus P. Recha, Chef De Cuisine:
Chef Klaus P. Recha brings an authentic culinary experience of more than 40 years to Janes. He has been creating gastronomic delights in Atlantic Canada since 1990 after moving here from Germany.
Klaus’ love of natural cuisine is rooted in his pastoral childhood. He grew up in Lower Saxony, Germany. The region is threaded with rivers and streams tributaries of the great river Weser. Klaus grew a natural bent towards using locally available ingredients. He had been delighting the flavor seekers at Lower Deck Bar & Grill in the Clayton Park area before joining Jane’s Next Door.
Klaus’ passion for food combined with Jane’s mission of adding a fine dining touch to home cooked meals is now creating delectable culinary wonders for our customers.
